How to find the right French course for you

french courseSo, did you go through too many French courses and still don’t feel confident in your conversation?

If you went to your school’s French class, then tried classes at the community college, Alliance Française or Rosetta Stone, this may be for you.

Read the article to see what you have to keep in mind when choosing your next French course, and listen to the podcast for a quick French course.

The teacher

First, interview your teacher.

Make sure they are not looking to have students for the short run.

Also, ask them if they have a system that can help you always have their support, even if you are not paying for their classes anymore.

The new trend is “language coaching”. Ask them if they know what that is, and if they are willing to branch out into being a language coach. A coach guides you to become self-sufficient, while a teacher lectures you, and a tutor is usually helping you to patch up your French.

The learning materials

Make sure you have unlimited access to the learning materials, and that the coach supports them and helps you navigate trough them easily.

Ask if you own the learning materials, or you need to maintain access through a membership fee.

The conversation

Don’t hire a teacher / coach who helps you develop your vocabulary or helps you fix your verbs. You can take care of these two parts of the language using two books: a dictionary and a verb conjugator.

The reason you need a teacher / coach is to help you with the pronunciation and sentence structure through conversation.

Make sure they focus on that, and bonne chance ! : )
