"my French skills have dramatically improved"
I had not studied or practiced my French in several years. I met an older gentleman from church who had lived in Germany and spoke fluent German when he lived there. He told me about how he let his language skills go and now cannot speak German at all. Hearing this story prompted me to seek out a French class to pick back up my language skills and improve them.
I wanted to take an online class due to the flexibility and not having to drive anywhere. In fact, I wound up moving 3000+ miles away from where I was living when I started and I have been able to continue on the same program.
My French skills have dramatically improved in the last months while working with Llyane. By working on a one on one basis with Llyane, she has been able to point out misconceptions about pronunciation and grammar that I have had since beginning to learn the language. For example how to pronounce “huit”, a word that I learned very early, but have been saying incorrectly and no one else ever corrected me! Just today, I had a dream where I was speaking French to a lady on the phone planning a vacation. I directly attribute this experience from my classes with Llyane.
What I like best is that Llyane is ways available to ask questions. Having a flexible schedule and the convenience of online classes. I can still get a weekly class in regardless of where I am.
Being able to speak my native language when necessary has helped immensely to understand grammar constructs that I did not understand previously. It has also helped me in pronunciation like in the word “coudre” where “cou” rhymes with the English word “who”.
Having weekly lessons with Llyane has helped to keep me on track to learn French. Even when I have an extremely busy week and don’t have much time to practice I always have our hour together each week.
My first child was born four months ago. It’s my hope that he will learn to speak French as well. Because all languages are foreign to him, we watch French children shows together like Rue Sésame, Caillou and Monde des petits. It’s a special time for us together and I even pick up lots of new vocabulary. Having Llyane there to ask questions about things that I read or watch and getting further clarification has been invaluable.
If you consider learning french with Llyane and are hesitant, I’d say to you: Do it! Llyane is an excellent coach, and having an online course can fit into your schedule!
If you are someone who wants to maintain and improve your French language skills, especially if you are in danger of losing the skill that you have already gained, you shouldn’t delay for any reason. I have been studying with Llyane for about a year and a half, and I have never regretted the decision.
Before I found Llyane and her French coaching methods, I had attempted to learn the French language several times through various means such as high school courses, college courses, adult education classes, classes taught through French associations, and self-learning apps. Each time I became more and more discouraged, and I began to believe that I would never be able to not only learn but speak the French language.

Initially, she took the time to really know my strengths and weaknesses, to figure out how I learn best, and most of all, to understand my goals. Because of this, she has modified her method to take advantage of my learning style. For instance, I am very analytical and like to understand the mechanics of grammar. Llyane breaks the French language down so that I understand it.
I have progressed farther than I have before, even with years of learning, and it’s because of Llyane and her method.
I also really enjoy the group conversation sessions. While meeting with Llyane once a week for a lesson is wonderful and where I am able to ask all of my in-depth questions, the group lessons build upon what I have learned and the progress that I am making. They encourage active listening since everyone speaks differently and inspires impromptu conversation with those at a similar level which aids in reaching for vocabulary and sentence structure. As a shy, introverted person, this safe place to make mistakes is truly wonderful.
Because of Llyane and her method, I am more confident in speaking French, and I am extremely happy with the progress that I have made and continue to make. I wish that I had found her earlier.

I came to her because even though I went through French immersion and even took some university courses in French, I knew I had a terrible accent and serious problems with grammar. Just wanted to drop you a line to tell you the good news.
I just took a French placement test from the University of Ottawa. The test is composed of three components – listening, reading and grammar. Each component includes three sections – each one varying in length and difficulty. I had taken the test about 8 months ago and I was rated as “F5” which is a true intermediate level. When I took it again today, I was rated “F7” – which is an advanced level!
While taking the test, I just kept reminding myself to go slowly, and was thinking in French with a better accent – I even came across the word ‘mesure’ and knew how to say it properly. Also, all your help with passé composé really helped me with the grammar parts.

"I wish I had the time and space to express all I have learned"
So very happy I found Llyane on Facebook a little over a year ago.
I wish I had the time and space to express all I have learned from her. She is actually more than just a teacher/coach of the French language.
She is also a mentor, cheerleader and someone who understands her clients and really, really wants them to learn. She "pushes" me to do better... for myself. No guilt trips, no games and no harsh retributions when I backslide on occasion. I feel I have to "unlearn" all of my previous lessons/attempts at learning French because Llyane's method is quite different. I have learned... (slowly) to relax, have "fun" and approach this learning not as a typical "class" but, as something goal oriented... for me.
Her approach is different and her ultimate goal for you, the student, is for you to achieve whatever level that you seek.
My only regret is that I did not find this wonderful woman first... before I enrolled in the failed attempts at learning French through the typical structured system that many educational systems use today. I feel blessed to have found her. And, will continue my journey with her help as long as possible.

"I could speak a little bit of French but I was lacking confidence"
I had studied French in India from Alliance Française and have been living in France for almost two years now. I could speak a little bit of French but I was lacking confidence. There were words that I could never pronounce correctly.
Hence, I decided to take French lessons and, since I was interning during weekdays, I could only take either late evening classes or on weekends!

"after five weeks... I took myself by surprise speaking French"
"This is just to say that after five weeks of taking Llyane’s Intensive Course I took myself by surprise speaking French, automatically and without thinking!
I was in a cafe in an English speaking area and was at the counter ready to order my lunch and pay for it. The woman working at the counter spoke French to me (she is French but speaks English typically as she is in an English area) for some reason (maybe I look French?) and I spoke right away back to her in French, ordering my sandwich and coffee. She asked me a couple of questions about my order and I responded in French! She understood me, and didn’t change to English so I must have spoken correctly! She kept on speaking French, telling me my total amount to pay, and I understood everything she said! There was no fear, no hesitation, no second guessing, no translating in my head first, just plain French coming out of my mouth!
Afterwards, once I sat down, I was so proud of myself.
I started with Llyane by signing up for the Intensive course. I had only elementary school french education, and wanted to finally slay the dragon so to speak and learn to speak fluently! I have always wanted to speak French well and to be comfortable speaking to others, and while I have attempted to it was always with hesitation. My brain would go into lock down, which I think is pretty normal.
So I have been very motivated and interested in the learning of this language, with the intent of being able to have conversations easily. I told Llyane one of my biggest hurdles to overcome was fear.
I really enjoy doing the lessons.
The first few weeks, especially by the third week, my brain felt like it was shutting down. I told Llyane this and she explained to me it was all a normal process and not to worry. Sure enough, the following week my brain had assimilated the knowledge gained thus far, and I felt much more comfortable going forward. It was like my brain was resisting, then it just unlocked!
I am amazed that after five weeks I had an unplanned, spontaneous conversation with a stranger, in French!

"I was apprehensive because I started with no knowledge of French"
"I signed up with Llyane to learn a little French for a trip to Paris because I wanted to be polite and learn some basic phrases and manners before I went. I was apprehensive because I started with no knowledge of French except for the word “please” and the phrase “thank you very much” (and I was not even pronouncing those correctly). This evolved into me taking additional courses with Llyane so I could converse with people and comprehend practical conversations rather than just knowing a few phrases that I could say to people.

to really hone in on my ear training as well as get some specific training around useful hotel, restaurant and travel phrases. She not only sent articles of interest to me but also created special documents for me to help with the things I was interested in discussing and learning, even if it was outside of the Intensif program.
It doesn’t matter what level you are at or even if you have a slight hearing loss and think you can’t learn French. With Llyane's coaching, you can learn! She quickly discovers what it is that limits your learning in order to break through that barrier and move past it.

My lesson with Llyane was terrific. I learned some French on my own prior to the lesson but never used it in conversation, so I was quite shy about actually trying to speak French.

"I took French for a year but still struggled to understand or string together complete sentences. I was frustrated that nothing I had learned before really stuck and didn't find my classes very motivating.
Llyane puts a lot of emphasis on pronunciation, and I realize now how much it matters! It means the difference between past and present, singular and plural. I also like that Llyane gives etymological context to why some words are spelled a certain way. It really helps me remember how to spell them, and it's just fascinating! Llyane also has great energy, so I always feel motivated to learn French. She doesn't let me get away with mistakes, which is great, because it keeps me from turning into a lazy learner.
After just a couple of months, I'm able to correct my own pronunciation while speaking. My comprehension of spoken French has also improved because I now notice the little nuances in pronunciation. I am learning French because I like the French culture and I think learning the language enhances my enjoyment of it. When I decided to start studying French, I wanted to work with someone directly for my own accountability. I also thought that I would make better progress. Llyane’s program offered 1:1 coaching and focused on speaking which was different from other programs I considered.
When I started learning, I was very nervous and scared to make mistakes. I had no experience with French at all. Llyane coached me through the fear of being in a live group session, the resistance to trying and making mistakes, and the frustration of learning new pronunciation and ways of speaking.
Llyane not only knows French, but also knows about the learning process, about how the brain works when learning a new language, and the challenges that it can bring. I think that is important for a successful language coach.
Today, I am relaxed in the live group sessions and am comfortable making mistakes. This is a big accomplishment for me. I’ve learned to be kind to myself during this process. I actually enjoy learning French now.
In 2022 I went to Paris and I was so excited to be able to read the signs and the menus and understand a little bit of those fast-speaking native speakers. I learned from Llyane that they see it as a sign of respect.
I felt so accomplished when I bought stamps at the post office and asked a cashier for a pen. Of course, there is still a lot to learn and practice. However, the most important thing is that I'm not afraid to try anymore. I now have the confidence to speak the French that I know. And, I have more confidence in my life because I’ve seen myself work through my insecurities and make progress.

One of my biggest fears of learning another language was having to speak it to others.
Data mining written information, especially day to day or marketing, is relatively doable. Pronouncing? Especially when written in front of me? A whole other story.
So, imagine my delight when Llyane had me discovering words for myself in lesson. And I did.
There it was. On a page. No place to hide or squirm. Just take it slow. Slow-er. Some French pronunciation rules finally made sense. And I could use it. Not overwhelming and not moving on too quickly or jumping on to something that didn't relate in my mind.
And this is one of the many areas she shines. Very quickly upon jumping in, Llyane tailored what we were doing - to me and how she could best help.

I had not studied or practiced my French in several years. I met an older gentleman from church who had lived in Germany and spoke fluent German when he lived there. He told me about how he let his language skills go and now cannot speak German at all. Hearing this story prompted me to seek out a French class to pick back up my language skills and improve them.
I wanted to take an online class due to the flexibility and not having to drive anywhere. In fact, I wound up moving 3000+ miles away from where I was living when I started and I have been able to continue on the same program.
My French skills have dramatically improved in the last months while working with Llyane. By working on a one on one basis with Llyane, she has been able to point out misconceptions about pronunciation and grammar that I have had since beginning to learn the language. For example how to pronounce “huit”, a word that I learned very early, but have been saying incorrectly and no one else ever corrected me! Just today, I had a dream where I was speaking French to a lady on the phone planning a vacation. I directly attribute this experience from my classes with Llyane.
What I like best is that Llyane is ways available to ask questions. Having a flexible schedule and the convenience of online classes. I can still get a weekly class in regardless of where I am.
Being able to speak my native language when necessary has helped immensely to understand grammar constructs that I did not understand previously. It has also helped me in pronunciation like in the word “coudre” where “cou” rhymes with the English word “who”.

I have been studying with Llyane for about a year and a half, and I have never regretted the decision.
Before I found Llyane and her French coaching methods, I had attempted to learn the French language several times through various means such as high school courses, college courses, adult education classes, classes taught through French associations, and self-learning apps. Each time I became more and more discouraged, and I began to believe that I would never be able to not only learn but speak the French language.
There had to be something out there that would work for me.
Out of desperation and frustration late one night, I found Llyane’s website. I decided to give it one last try and filled out the contact form. I am extremely grateful that I did. Llyane is an amazing teacher, mentor, and coach who puts you at ease from the very beginning.
I especially like her Pronunciation Cure course which has helped me become more confident speaking French because I know the rules of pronunciation. I also appreciate her patience, gentle prodding, and encouragement every time we meet.

Just wanted to drop you a line to tell you the good news.
I just took a French placement test from the University of Ottawa. The test is composed of three components – listening, reading and grammar. Each component includes three sections – each one varying in length and difficulty. I had taken the test about 8 months ago and I was rated as “F5” which is a true intermediate level. When I took it again today, I was rated “F7” – which is an advanced level!
While taking the test, I just kept reminding myself to go slowly, and was thinking in French with a better accent – I even came across the word ‘mesure’ and knew how to say it properly. Also, all your help with passé composé really helped me with the grammar parts.

She is also a mentor, cheerleader and someone who understands her clients and really, really wants them to learn. She "pushes" me to do better... for myself. No guilt trips, no games and no harsh retributions when I backslide on occasion. I feel I have to "unlearn" all of my previous lessons/attempts at learning French because Llyane's method is quite different. I have learned... (slowly) to relax, have "fun" and approach this learning not as a typical "class" but, as something goal oriented... for me.
Her approach is different and her ultimate goal for you, the student, is for you to achieve whatever level that you seek.
My only regret is that I did not find this wonderful woman first... before I enrolled in the failed attempts at learning French through the typical structured system that many educational systems use today. I feel blessed to have found her. And, will continue my journey with her help as long as possible.

"after five weeks... I took myself by surprise speaking French"
"This is just to say that after five weeks of taking Llyane’s Intensive Course I took myself by surprise speaking French, automatically and without thinking!
I was in a cafe in an English speaking area and was at the counter ready to order my lunch and pay for it. The woman working at the counter spoke French to me (she is French but speaks English typically as she is in an English area) for some reason (maybe I look French?) and I spoke right away back to her in French, ordering my sandwich and coffee. She asked me a couple of questions about my order and I responded in French! She understood me, and didn’t change to English so I must have spoken correctly! She kept on speaking French, telling me my total amount to pay, and I understood everything she said! There was no fear, no hesitation, no second guessing, no translating in my head first, just plain French coming out of my mouth!
Afterwards, once I sat down, I was so proud of myself.
I started with Llyane by signing up for the Intensive course. I had only elementary school french education, and wanted to finally slay the dragon so to speak and learn to speak fluently! I have always wanted to speak French well and to be comfortable speaking to others, and while I have attempted to it was always with hesitation. My brain would go into lock down, which I think is pretty normal.
So I have been very motivated and interested in the learning of this language, with the intent of being able to have conversations easily. I told Llyane one of my biggest hurdles to overcome was fear.
I really enjoy doing the lessons.
The first few weeks, especially by the third week, my brain felt like it was shutting down. I told Llyane this and she explained to me it was all a normal process and not to worry. Sure enough, the following week my brain had assimilated the knowledge gained thus far, and I felt much more comfortable going forward. It was like my brain was resisting, then it just unlocked!
I am amazed that after five weeks I had an unplanned, spontaneous conversation with a stranger, in French!

"I took French for a year but still struggled to understand or string together complete sentences. I was frustrated that nothing I had learned before really stuck and didn't find my classes very motivating.

I am learning French because I like the French culture and I think learning the language enhances my enjoyment of it. When I decided to start studying French, I wanted to work with someone directly for my own accountability. I also thought that I would make better progress. Llyane’s program offered 1:1 coaching and focused on speaking which was different from other programs I considered.
When I started learning, I was very nervous and scared to make mistakes. I had no experience with French at all. Llyane coached me through the fear of being in a live group session, the resistance to trying and making mistakes, and the frustration of learning new pronunciation and ways of speaking.
Llyane not only knows French, but also knows about the learning process, about how the brain works when learning a new language, and the challenges that it can bring. I think that is important for a successful language coach.

One of my biggest fears of learning another language was having to speak it to others.
Data mining written information, especially day to day or marketing, is relatively doable. Pronouncing? Especially when written in front of me? A whole other story.
So, imagine my delight when Llyane had me discovering words for myself in lesson. And I did.
There it was. On a page. No place to hide or squirm. Just take it slow. Slow-er. Some French pronunciation rules finally made sense. And I could use it. Not overwhelming and not moving on too quickly or jumping on to something that didn't relate in my mind.
And this is one of the many areas she shines. Very quickly upon jumping in, Llyane tailored what we were doing - to me and how she could best help.
Even my sweetie said - "She was really good. She is like what a teacher is supposed to be."
Llyane also starts from a place of "the student can do this". I so appreciate her holding that space. She is very effective and efficient and certainly makes the most of sixty minutes.
Llyane came highly recommended from a friend and still she surpassed what I imagined.
She made me really understand how my saying words or phrases quickly really doesn't fool anyone. Nothing is masked by that technique. And actually just produces gibberish. All that, while-kindly-helping me build confidence.
And I had fun. She never let me sit in "I am overwhelmed", "I want to give up", or the fluster of "I don't know". There is just no room for that when working with her.
I also learned of new strengths and what I am naturally good at and one way to use them strategically. And how to not let that hamper my actual learning.
And at the end of the lesson, she wrote out how I should practice after making sure I understand why that sequence benefits my particular abilities and difficulties.
She was also able to answer a quick cultural question and increase my understanding of the French and other Europeans.
And lastly, in addition to the thrill of discovering room in my subconscious and ear for a new language, I learned so much about me. Working with Llyane is life changing.

Llyane has been my super French Guru... so meticulous in her approach towards the language in general and to French pronunciation in particular !!!
Having subjected me to introspection, she opened my eyes to the pronunciation flaws while placing me on track towards correct French pronunciation. I realized how pronunciation can be so critical to speaking French simply because a word even though, spelt the same, could have a different meaning or a similar sounding word with a slightly different pronunciation could have a different meaning.
Imaginez « le livre » et « la livre » ou « le désert » et « le dessert » !!! Her technique to French pronunciation has been extremely interesting and a tremendous learning experience !
