HOW TO MAKE CONVERSATION ABOUT TOULOUSE LAUTREC THIS WEEKEND
So, would you like to go in a French immersion retreat? But you don’t have the time (or the budget) to cross the pond and stay there for 7 days?
You could have the same language experience, and quantum leap in your conversation here, in North America.
Tempting thought, no?
Many think that the obvious choice is Québec. To tell you the truth, both French and French culture in Canada have a Québec flavor. Not the France French, not the French cuisine.
The most France was imported in New York City, and that’s why I chose it for my ‘local’ French immersion.
Read the article below, to learn more about how Cathy and I made conversation about Toulouse Lautrec, and watch the video for some French you’ll enjoy at the dinner table.
(This week, verb MANGER – to eat)
[New York en français] – Day 3: Toulouse Lautrec
(Read here about day 1 and day 2.)
Today, we saw the exhibition Paris by Toulouse Lautrec at MoMa after a larger than life brunch at Le pain quotidien.
We intended to have dinner at La Mangeoire (on the 53rd). We ended up eating at MoMA’s Café 5 which, BTW, serves an outstanding cheese platter. Ask for the server Robert, he’s going to remember to add whipped cream to your coffee, to make it café chantilly 😉
After these 3 days, Cathy was speaking French more comfortably than ever. I could see a great progress, and we are both very, very happy with the immersion.
Not ready yet for the City of Light, but would like to immerse in the French language locally?
