Catherine describing her “NY in French” immersion:
“I went on my first immersion with Llyane. I was a little nervous because I am a beginner in French and didn’t know how I was going to manage speaking in French for a weekend!
Llyane asked to choose what I would like to do and from there she ensured that French would be included, whether during the event itself, or with French conversation during and afterwards.
Listening to a French audio guide was challenging, but Llyane was very helpful in breaking down the audio commentary into segments and explaining what was being said in French.
We spent much time walking around the city, on the streets as well as in nature, and we would talk in French about things we saw or passed by, which made the conversation flow.
I thoroughly enjoyed the French restaurants and cafés Llyane picked out as well, where we could relax and begin and end our day of adventure with French conversation. Llyane was very patient and kind and understanding, and understood when my brain needed to rest !
I would recommend the immersion programs to anyone who wants to experience having an adventure in French in a unique setting with a very personable and engaging coach: Llyane!”

Hello, Llyane
How much time do I have to prepare my French in order to qualify for this immersion?
And Jovanka,
What will I learn in this immersion for my health?
Thanks so much!
Andrea from New York City
Hi, Andrea, thank you for your great questions!
You don’t need to prepare in advance for your French.
We will have a complimentary conversation together so that I can identify your level, and I’ll meet you where you feel comfortable.
If, however, you would like to improve your level a little, you are welcome to have a few sessions with me before the trip.
(Jovanka will answer her question soon)
xo
Hi Andrea:
You will learn:
– about your dosha (the energy that governs your physical/mental constitution based on Ayurveda ) as part of your one-on-one session
– how to balance your constitution with herbal remedies and wellness practices
– how to use food and herbs as natural cures to treat your most pressing health concern
– how to enjoy a night out and extra yummy food without undoing your routine
Hope this helps!
Can I come with a friend?
Yes, absolutely! They can join us in the immersive if they speak a little French and want to expand their knowledge or they can enjoy a leisurely time in NoLa (they can enjoy some of our group activities for a separate fee).
I’m a little nervous about my French.
I know you said that you adjust to my level, but how much time will you spend with me alone?
I’m excited about the wellness part – where can I see some of Jovanka’s materials?
This trip is meant to be fun, Dina, and I appreciate that you’re sharing your feelings here.
We’ll make it as much fun as you want it to be.
That’s why I meet with you before the trip in the form of a complimentary session, so that you can share with me what your level of French is and what you’d like to experiment with.
If you don’t feel comfortable to speak French more extensively, we can only have the 1:1 sessions together. During the trip, I’ll share my time with every participant in 1:1 sessions, so that you won’t be embarrassed about your level.
The environment is non-judgmental, everybody has a different level of their knowledge, and we encourage everybody to aim for progress, not perfection 😉
Hi Dina:
I’m excited about the weekend too. As Llyane said, we are here to support each other and have the best time ever. Of course, we’ll learn a ton in the process but fun and relaxation are our main 2 goals.

I’m a super beginner in French, and I’d love to make some progress.
New Orleans seems the perfect place to go for that, I think.
Thank you for putting this together!
I wonder if we will have a class setting during the trip, or we will converse casually?
Same for the health and wellness .
Thank you!
Bonjour, John !
Thank you for your great questions.
We won’t have classes, we like to do thinks in a casual format.
The group is very intimate (maximum 6), so everybody will have ample time with me to try and play with the conversation in French.
I’ll let Jovanka answer her side of the question 🙂
Hi John:
We will have a small, intimate group (6 people max) so there won’t be a need for a class setting for the health and wellness. However, we will meet as a group to learn about food, will discuss wellness practices and herbal remedies during our dinners and individually with me to learn about your constitution and specific health concerns. You’ll get a full protocol that’s specific to you and your needs/goals. Hope this helps!
Jovanka
Could you give us an example of what will we do in one day of the trip?
Can we suggest activities, Jovanka?
Hi Ani:
Surely, here’s our preliminary itinerary for Saturday:
7:00am – 9:00am – Breakfast on your own
9:30am – Yoga class in the park (weather permitting)
11:00am – Herbal medicine workshop “Kitchen Pharmacy”
12:00 noon – Wellness Lab: Q&A in English and French
1:00pm – Free time to explore the city on your own
2:00pm to 5:30pm – 3x 1:1 coaching with both Llyane and Jovanka (1 hour per person)
6:30pm – Healthy cooking class in English and French
9:30pm – Jazz or night tour in the French Quarter (or free time)
*Note: The activities for our trip will be highly customizable to make sure our group is getting exactly what they want.
I’ve no issues with the French side, I know Llyane and I trust she’s going to make this experience stellar – I’ve been on a similar immersion in New York City, amazing!
AND I’m a beginner. I had no idea I could do an immersion!!
This is a group immersion, and I’m excited to know other people who are interested in the same things I am.
Kudos for the initiative, I wouldn’t expect any less from you.
I’m curious if I have to prepare anything in advance for the health and wellness: do I have to do Yoga if I’m not a yoga person, will we split the group? What’s the idea?
Thanks again!
Hi Daniel:
Yes, Llyane is incredible and I’m also honored and excited for the opportunity to work together.
So glad you’re a beginner, you’ll get a ton of great insights and knowledge. No, you won’t need to prepare anything or know yoga at all. I think I mentioned it above but just to confirm, the activities for our trip will be highly customizable to make sure our group is getting exactly what they want.
Also, here’s our preliminary itinerary for Saturday:
7:00am – 9:00am – Breakfast on your own
9:30am – Yoga class in the park (weather permitting)
11:00am – Herbal medicine workshop “Kitchen Pharmacy”
12:00 noon – Wellness Lab: Q&A in English and French
1:00pm – Free time to explore the city on your own
2:00pm to 5:30pm – 3x 1:1 coaching with both Llyane and Jovanka (1 hour per person)
6:30pm – Healthy cooking class in English and French
9:30pm – Jazz or night tour in the French Quarter (or free time)
If I come with my daughter, she’s a beginner in French, while I’m advanced.
I’d love to chat over the dinner or the cooking class in French, but my daughter wouldn’t understand much.
How do we handle this?
Thank you!
Bonjour, Donna, this is also a brilliant question!
I work with everybody at their level.
Meaning, with you, I can chat a bit in our group sessions, while I’ll give your daughter the words she needs to understand more of what we’re doing.
Don’t forget, this is for FUN! 🙂
You can explain to her the words too, and I can mediate the conversation between the two of you in such a way that you’ll leave the trip feeling that you’ve had your first conversation in French with her 😉
Jovanka may jump in to tell us if she has anything to add.
Yes, absolutely. All my lessons will be in English and Llyane will be translating/interpreting while asking you questions to ease into a flowy conversation with new vocabulary for both you and your daughter (especially health/wellness related vernacular) 🙂
If I want to make 2 payments, when will the second one be?
Hi Toni:
Our immersion is March 22-24 so if the 1st payment is made today/tomorrow, the 2nd payment would be due on March 8th (2 weeks before departure date).
Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks.
