HOW TO SAVE THE CHILDREN BY LEARNING FRENCH WITH LLYANE

save the childrenSo do you remember the last time you gave something?
Whether it was a gift, a donation, or just help, it makes you feel pretty good, no?

Well there’s an amazing organization called Pencils of Promise that has done some amazing things!

Check out the article below to learn more about how you’ll save the children with the schools you are about to build, and watch the video for some French worth giving.

(This week: the verb DONER – to give)

The goosebumps test is the ultimate test for me, and I did just that. Watched the video to see what was my reaction. And there they were: the goosebumps. So I knew that I had to do it, and I had to do it right away. What came after was something of a novel waiting to be written.

I learned about Pencils of Promise from Marie Forleo, and it felt like something I had to get involved in. Why this and not another, it was hard to tell, but I trusted my gut and it proved right like many times before. I could have chosen any other prestigious charity, but then it wouldn’t have been reflecting me. The pioneer “me” (I still didn’t find someone who does what I do quite the way I do it), the against-the-stream-me (I always seem to do things differently than the majority), me – the one who values originality more than maybe any other quality in people.

Needless to say, I kept looking for a way to be involved in this initiative, with dreams to scale our contributions in the future. So, I thought that nothing can be better than eventually building a school in a francophone developing country, where our name will have something to do with children being properly educated, having given a hope that they can become someone else than the default dream their parents had for them, their own dream, that they can tailor, as they grow up. Imagine the adults coming out of those schools pondering on the difference between their fate and their family’s.

I knew then that you would be happy to know that, when you take a course with me, part of the money goes towards a school built for children to learn French, maybe even as early as grade 1. Wouldn’t that be nice? So I started to donate to Pencils of Promise, and I couldn’t be happier. Then people started to ask me a bunch of questions about them, so this is why I’m writing now, so that you learn more about them, about their groundbreaking “for purpose” approach. When I read that Forbes refers to them as “an award-winning nonprofit organization” with an “unique approach that blends nonprofit idealism with for-profit business principles.” Then I knew our donations are in good hands.

Nothing makes me happier than to make someone happy, to see a smile on their face, whether by helping them pronounce a word correctly for the first time or making a sophisticated phrase during conversation. In 2007, I started to sponsor a little girl, Jovister, from Tanzania who shares my birthdate, at a time when I wasn’t sure I’d be able to continue for too long. But imagine 30 children, or an entire school given the choice of having a choice. Save the children. This was going to make it worthwhile.
