Dictionaries

Always keep an online dictionary open when you play with your French.

I recommend Reverso for word definition as well as expressions (possibly the best collection of expression there is today), and Linguee for one of the best collection of contextual translations.

Verbs

Use Bescherelle online (and, better yet, the one made of paper) – it’s the most intelligent resource that will help you become self sufficient the fastest.

I give ample instructions about how to use all these resources in this webinar.

Books

Some people will tell you to look for children’s books, but I will recommend you to read poems of Jacques Prévert – the French who shows you how to use basic, simple sentences and vocabulary, and sound really brilliant.

Podcasts and other listening

I have a daily podcast that is great for beginners, called Daily Minute with J’Ouellette, which I recommend – you can’t use the excuse that you don’t have time, because they are under 2 minutes long : )

I also created over 1,800 videos on my Youtube Channel, all under 6 minutes long.

Conversation

Most people believe that conversation is not something that beginners do.
…should do.
…or could do.

And yet, if you leave conversation for later, you are setting yourself for failure.

I have conversation with my students from our first lesson, even if they never spoke before in French.

My method allows you to make acquaintance and friends with this lil’ monster, and make it the subject for bragging and pride.

That is what you do during the J’Ouellette® Intensif program – and now I also offer a virtual Immersion during the Back to School Event.

Did you find something you resonate with? I’d love to hear from you!

Bonne chance ! : )
