HOW TO DO YOUR FRENCH PRACTICE IN AN IMMERSION RETREAT IN NYC
So, are you ready to cross the ocean for a French immersion in Paris?
Many would probably say “yes! anytime!”, but some feel that Paris would be a bit overwhelming to start with.
If you are in the second category, I have good news: there’s a way to have a French immersion on the American continent.
Read the article below, to find out how you can do your French practice in an immersion retreat in NYC, and watch the video for some French worth swimming across the oceans for.
(This week, verb NAGER – to swim)
[New York en français] – Day 2: a 42.52 carat diamond
(Read here about day 1.)
Did you think I was talking about the Hope Diamond? Even though my client, Cathy, and I visited Harry Winston’s, it is not that diamond that I’m referring to.
Believe it or not, it is an éclair that we had at Éclair Bakery (completely French owned and operated, on 53rd and 2nd).
Do – not – miss – it, even if your life depended on it, because I must say that I don’t recall such perfection in any of the éclairs I had in Paris (and this is my absolute favorite cake).
And, try the dark chocolate – it’s ravishing!!
More French discoveries today:
Cinéma Paris (across Plaza Hotel – also operated by the French), Beautique (next door to Paris Cinéma), Patisserie by François Payard, La maison du chocolat, Pain d’Avignon, Vive la crêpe (last four, in the Plaza Hotel food court), Façonnable and Petite manufacture Cluizel (both on 5th Ave).
In the afternoon, after a short walk in Central Park, we visited the French quartier in SoHo. You’ll find there Little Prince, Jean Claude, Raoul’s, Bistro les amis, Vin et fleurs, Ladurée, Balthazar, L’école restaurant, and Cocotte. All these are places of rendez-vous for French people in NYC.
All day, we have made conversation in French only. A great way to get ready for the Parisian immersion – a great way to practice your conversation in real life, outside of the classroom.
We had our dinner and conversation at Félix, and we went home happy 🙂
