TRIANON VS. VERSAILLES, A BIG DILEMMA – FRENCH IMMERSION: DAY 2
A day like no other – perfect sun, perfect temperature, even perfect clouds.
Also, a perfect surprise!
We took the bus to Versailles with the intention to enjoy the fountains and the music in the gardens and a great hope to have some friendly weather, as last time we had a little bit of a challenge on this front.
Today: How Marie Antoinette surprised the history and our conversation day.

Marie-Antoinette and her gardens!
We started the day in a rush and, of course, with a coffee (there’s no cure to a new time-zone when you only have one week to adjust).
The trip was good, well organized, we couldn’t ask for more – and today we had a full day at Versailles.
Thinking that we’d stay only in the gardens, we were surprised to find out that the only way to go out is through the Palace, so we did the tour again. Nice – everything was in the same place 🙂 waiting for us like old friends.
As we went out, we were overjoyed to see the fountains running (took the picture) and then off we went on one of the main alleys towards the Trianon.
Went in.
Nothing spectacular.
Kind of plain, small and pale.
Little did we know, that as we kept walking through the Petit Trianon, we started to fall in love with its warmth, homey flavour and down-to-earth “I want to live here” feeling.
When we went in the gardens of Trianon, though, we were overwhelmed with its natural and simple beauty, from old trees planted during Napoleon, ponds with swans, all the way to beautiful, romantic places like Temple de l’Amour.
We ended the day eating a sandwich “au fromage” at the end of Grand Canal, under a beautiful sun and among French and tourists who came to have a Sunday picnic.
