ARE FRENCH GENDERS A CHALLENGE FOR YOU? WATCH THIS!

gendersSo, are the French genders hard for you?

Do you always guess, and most of the times you don’t get it right?

Genders seem to be a very popular topic among francophiles.

In English, nouns don’t have genders, so it may be difficult to adjust to the French way.

However, if you think that German and Latin have 3 genders, you may feel a little better.

Here is my video answer to the number one concern of one of the members of my conversation Facebook group: “My number one frustration while learning French is how every noun has a gender. How can one remember the gender of every noun. It is something very difficult for me.”

Read this article and watch the video to unveil the mystery around the French genders, and never doubt your choices in your conversations with the natives.

(This week, French GENDERS)

Knowing that the genders of the words in French don’t perfectly correspond to the genders of the words in the other romance languages, may trigger an even bigger concern to the beginner – and even to the intermediate French speaker.

How do you learn the genders for all the French words?

The simple and sure way to always know it, is to memorize them one by one.

Consider the gender as being part of the word, rather than an additional element of the nouns.

For example:

« livre » doesn’t mean anything until we add the gender.

« un livre » = a book
« une livre » = a pound

That is how important genders are in French.

If you still confuse the genders for the words that you already know, consider re-learning the words WITH their genders (in the form of an article).

This is what I do in the J’Ouellette® Intensif program – go ahead and see how are people raving about it.

If not now, then when? 🙂
