THIS IS THE DRAMATIC CANAL ST. MARTIN – FRENCH IMMERSION: DAY 6

canal st martin blogToday we saw a different face of Paris, with René-Gustave.

Rougher, not as kind, sometimes not too forgiving, even though still smiling and there for us.

It made me think of those people who you meet in life, but you zig and they zag.

I learned a lot from my Paris, today. I leaned about myself to be OK with the zig, to be OK with the zag, and that, if zag is what shows up, that’s just to make room for a better zig down the road.

Today: Paris secret et insolite – where even most Parisians don’t set foot.

(Read about our day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4, and day 5)

Underground beauty

Experience it all.

Take a deep breath and see all its faces.

The royal restaurant Le Train Bleu found in Gare de Lyon could only remind me more of the contorted bodies and souls sleeping under the bridges along Canal St. Martin, with urine odour and major spider action. Beautiful, romantic quays of the Canal, la Rotonde, les écluses – dusty reminders of an underground life too strong to be ignored.

Don’t stop at the bright colors and clean pavements. Try to taste it all, to know its depths of desperation and helpless dead-ended lives crowding places that some people never escape.

Read its history of drama created to climb the social ladder or drama created to escape a path in life that otherwise needs great courage to pursue.

The drama of Paris can capture you or make you wise. Don’t kid yourself, in life there’s no one watching who applauds.

Do yourself a favor: leave the drama in the theatre, outside of your life and stay with the truth of your heart – it will always tell you which part of Paris you should go by.

Hi Llyane – I have to say, I’d rather first experience the above-ground Paris before the underground world. 🙂 If I go, be my guide, please!

      Of course, Marie! 🙂
My client had already experienced the ‘above the ground’, and continued to do so after this day.
It is always good to know both sides of the coin, to decide whether you like it or not.
He loved it – I’m sure you will too!
