Black Friday is gaining momentum in France and returns this year on Friday, November 23 for a long weekend, until Monday, November 26, Cyber ​​Monday.

This edition promises to be even more explosive! In 2016, around 15 million French people took part in the big sale following Thanksgiving, which is 3.7 million more than in 2015.

Black Friday is a historical day

And it is Amazon who wins the gold medal with 1.4 million products sold in 24 hours during the 2016 edition in France. It’s simply a historic sales day.

Indeed, Black Friday is the day where almost all e-merchants offer incredible discounts, a kind of Christmas before the time comes, from the United States. Americans celebrate this special day the day after Thanksgiving. In France, this holiday is little celebrated but that does not prevent them to import the “Black Friday” in France.

Black Friday, a record-breaking day

It is in 2014 that Black Friday crosses the Atlantic and arrives in France. Even if European Black Friday is minimal compared to that of the United States, the biggest brands play the game. This is the case of Amazon, Cdiscount, Groupon or Sephora. Indeed, French consumers spent more than 140 million Euros in 2015, an amount that matches the Holiday spirit.

The French are therefore increasingly concerned by this unique day, this new form of sales much more interesting, that comes just before holidays of the end of the year. Why are French people attracted to Black Friday? Because discounts of up to 90% are available on the largest e-commerce sites, including Leroy Merlin, Goal, Yves Rocher, Zalando Privé.
