WHY DO I HAVE TROUBLE WITH FRENCH CONVERSATION?

trouble with frenchSo, do you have trouble with French conversation?

Have you been learning French for a while and you’re still not speaking it?

If you know more things about French than you are actually using it with your friends, then this article is for you.

Read below and discover the two most common reasons why you may still wrestle with the French conversation, and watch the video for some French worth obeying 🙂

(This week: the verb OBÉIR – to obey)

Here are the two most common reasons for feeling behind with your French conversation:

1. You may not know all the pronunciation rules

this way, you are confused by the fact that in French we don’t read all the letters, and when we do it may not seem consistent.

Knowing all the pronunciation rules helps you to read, write and pronounce any French word, even if you don’t know what they mean yet

If you want to sidestep this common problem, check out my pronunciation master course here.

2. You may not have a partner for conversation

Learning the language doesn’t equate to speaking it, they are two very different skills.

I have clients who teach French at the high school level, as well as PhDs and Masters in French, and they need conversation sessions with me.

If we don’t apply the language, we don’t have access to our knowledge in a concrete life situation.

You are not alone, this problem is the most common of all, and most people who come to me ask the same question.

Some people learned French for decades, and they still have this issue.

Don’t be one of them

Learning can be misleading.

We can get stuck in learning mode for years.

We can end up burying ourselves in books, CDs, courses and get to know a lot ABOUT French and the French language.

If we’re not careful, we can end up getting comfortable in the spectator’s shoes.

Not the player, not the actor who’s in the hot chair, where all the exciting things happen.

…Unless we decide to step away from the audience and jump on the stage of our own life, where we can try, make mistakes, and try again.

Then look back and smile at the mistakes we USED to make, not the ones we fear.
